I have specific dietary requirements, will there be food for me?

We have an in-house cook with us during the week and the meals prepared are designed to cater to every diet. However, if you have very strict dietary requirements and cannot eat most things, we advise you to bring your own food with you as well as contact us in advance to prepare accordingly.

Do I need to have travel / medical insurance?

We advise you to take up standard insurance as you would for any other trip.

Visa & travel document requirements

You are required to acquire your own visa documents according to your nationality.

See here for information on who needs a visa to travel to Iceland or Sweden.

Please check the confirmation email we sent to you when you purchased your ticket.

What is your refund / cancelation policy?

If you can no longer attend a retreat after you have paid for a ticket, fully or partially, you can choose to attend a next retreat for a processing fee which will be decided according to the circumstances.

In terms of refunds the following applies:

  • 60 days before the start of the event there will be 50% refund of the cost

  • Within less than 30 days before the start of the event no fees will be refunded.

In case of cancellation of the event due to Covid from either party, no refund will be offered. As a way to meet and think with you during these times, your deposit or full ticket will be 100% valid as credit for a next event (excluding handling fees or possible price raises in next events).

In the event that a retreat is canceled

If we need to postpone or cancel a retreat (for non-covid related reasons) after you have purchased a ticket, your ticket will be valid for the next retreat you can attend.

In case of cancellation of the event due to Covid from either party, no refund will be offered. As a way to meet and think with you during these times, your deposit or full ticket will be 100% valid as credit for a next event (excluding handling fees or possible price raises in next events).

What time does my flight need to arrive / leave to be on time for the pick-up and drop-off times?

ICELAND

Please make sure you book your flight to arrive at least one hour prior to the pick up time (16:00pm). For your departure, please book your flight at least 2 hours after drop off time (from 11:00am).

SWEDEN

You need to make your own way to the train station near our retreat centre. If you are arriving by car we will contact you with the exact information of our accommodation’s location.

The flight I want to book will arrive later than the arrival pick up time or leave before the departure drop off time. Will you wait or could you leave earlier?

ICELAND

We have fixed pick up and drop off times. In case you aim to arrive earlier (a day or more), we offer to pick you up at the airport or in a fixed central place in Reykjavik at 5pm on day 1. When booking your ticket we will ask you to provide us with your preference.

If you arrive later than the pick up time, or need to leave earlier than the designated drop off time, any extra costs are your own responsibility. We can help you with arranging a taxi (costs around €250), please contact us to let us know your schedule in advance. Otherwise you can rent your own car and drive to the accommodation by yourself.

If you plan to spend some time in Iceland after the expedition - which many of our participants do, we can drop you off in the centre of Reykjavik on the way to the airport.

SWEDEN

As you are making your own travel arrangements to the location of our retreat centre either by car or train, you can arrive later or leave earlier.

However we can only pick you up and drop you off at the train station during the 6 days of the expedition. If you wish to arrive in Sweden earlier or stay longer you are responsible for your own travel from and to the train station.

I’m arriving in Iceland before the pick up day, or very early on pick up day, can I come to the accommodation earlier? Can you recommend accommodation options in Reykjavik?

It is not possible to come to our accommodation earlier on your own. You need to book your own accommodation and be ready to be picked up at the designated pick up time either from the airport or the centre of Reykjavik.

There are many accommodation possibilities in Reykjavik and all around Iceland. Please check booking.com and airbnb.com.

Expeditions

Do I need any experience to attend any of the two Into the wild within retreats?

Both the Iceland and Sweden retreats are suitable for all levels of experience.

We always have participants who are completely new and have no experience at all, mixed with participants who have been with us on earlier travels. We always tailor the experience to the individual and group needs, making each journey unique.

Do I need to be in a good physical condition to attend?

ICELAND

In Iceland we go on hikes, which sometimes can be challenging due to weather conditions. As a general rule we recommend that you are able to walk 10km a day comfortably.

If you do have questions around your physical or any other health conditions, please do reach out to see if we can tailor the experience according to your needs.

SWEDEN

In Sweden we practice mainly in and around our retreat centre in the forest, and therefore any level of physical condition is fine.

What if I can’t do some of the activities whilst on the retreat?

An important element during our journey is to listen more closely to your own needs. We highly recommend participating in all activities, however if a situation arises where you need to rest or when you feel too unwell to participate, we will support you in the best way possible.

I have an existing health condition or injury - is it safe for me to attend?

We recommend getting professional advice from your doctor before joining if you have concerns if breath work or participating in cold exposure is safe for you. If you have any specific questions around safety please contact us.

Is this experience a substitute for medical treatment?

While we have multiple cases of people seeing improvement in their health, and feeling better after attending our retreats, this training is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment in any way. If you have a medical condition we always advise you to consult your doctor first.

Medication, drugs & alcohol during an expedition

You are expected to inform us about any health conditions, injuries and medication you may be on before you attend a retreat.

Alcohol and/or any substance use is strictly prohibited.

Am I too old/young to attend?

Our retreats are suitable and open to all ages of 18 and upwards.

While most of our participants tend to be between 28-55 years old, we always have a real mix in our groups.

We’ve had people as young as 19 and as old as 76 years of age.

How can I prepare for a retreat?

We recommend that you spend some time to tune into yourself and become clear about your intentions for joining this transformative week. This can really help to deepen your experience. After booking your ticket we will send you a form to complete with some questions intended to help you on this.

In terms of getting accustomed to some of the practices we will be delving into during the week we recommend our Home Practice online membership portal.

You will receive an email with information on how to join after you purchase your ticket.

What is the difference between the Iceland and Sweden Into the wild within experience? I’m having trouble choosing.

This really depends on your intention for wanting to join our experiences in nature.

As a general rule, Iceland can be more physically demanding and challenging as there are hiking adventures involved. We also travel to different locations every day by car. A unique element of this week is the Sweat Lodge ritual.

In Sweden we don’t travel by car during the six days. The activities are centered around our retreat location and the surrounding forest and lakes. A unique element of this week is the daily primitive fire making workshop.

From an energetic standpoint, we would say that Iceland is more challenging, whereas Sweden is more nourishing.

Both encompass our Into the wild within values and vision for re-wilding our human nature, and about one third of our participants come back to attend both retreats. Some even come back to attend the same retreat the year after.

Is there a difference between the level of experience needed for the two retreats?

No, at the moment both retreats are suitable for people with no previous experience in what we teach. Some people join us in Iceland first, then they come to Sweden, and vice versa. The two experiences are unique in their own way and are always tailored according to the needs of each group.
